Extended Reality Learning Framework for Pediatric Nursing Students

Deliverables

The Foundations of the PeDXR learning framework

We are excited to announce the successful completion of the foundational work for developing the PeDXR learning framework.

current trends in pediatric nursing

A key objective of the preparatory work was to gather data that highlights current trends in pediatric nursing training and showcases the integration of extended reality in higher education for nurses. The data collected is summarised by Mrs. Katrin De Winter and displayed in the video “XR Good Practices – Use of Extended Reality Nationally and Globally.”

nursing students’ learning needs

The preparatory work also focused on collecting data about the learning needs of nursing students. Watch the video “Pediatric Nursing Student Learning Needs” for insights from the presentation delivered by Mrs. Barbara Mpoutopulou.

Both surveys are equally important to the development, implementation and validation of the PeDXR learning framework for pediatric nursing students in higher education.

enhancing the PeDXR framework

A comprehensive literature review was also conducted to inform and guide the creation of the PeDXR framework.

Based on the results of the two surveys and the literature review, the consortium has collaboratively identified the topics that will form the modules of the PeDXR learning framework. The chosen topics include Family-Centered Care, Respiratory Medical Conditions (e.g. bronchitis), Pain Management (for infants and older children), and Emergency Incidents (such as head injuries and vein punctures).
