In June 2025, the Croatian Nurses Association hosted their National Congress in the picturesque coastal town of Opatija. This year’s congress held particular significance, as it marked the 20th anniversary of undergraduate nursing education in Croatia. The central theme, “20 Years of Undergraduate Studies – Challenges and Opportunities for Recognition”, brought together nurse educators, clinicians, and researchers to reflect on past progress and future directions.

On Saturday, June the 7th 2025, Miss Katrin De Winter was honoured to be invited as a speaker in the session dedicated to paediatric nursing. Given the congress’s focus on undergraduate education, Miss De Winter seized the opportunity to introduce the PeDXR project to a wider audience.

In a brief but impactful presentation segment, she highlighted the goals and innovative aspects of the PeDXR initiative. Furthermore, she provided an overview of how Extended Reality (XR) technologies are being integrated into paediatric nursing education across Europe. Attendees were invited to visit the project’s website and to stay tuned for a glimpse into the first virtual reality scenario, developed specifically for paediatric care training, soon to be made available in the project’s website.
The paediatric nursing session proved an ideal setting to raise awareness about the PeDXR project, among nurse educators and clinical mentors, fostering interest in the pedagogical potential of immersive technologies.
